Dear Gok, should I wear pantyhose if I’m not planning on leaving the house for five days?

I wear pantyhose. I know about the sleeveless trend for spring and summer and why you should never pull out the belt before you’ve finished your “dressy” look. I know they’re supposed to make you look more like an overnight guest than an everyday girl in a jeans and t-shirt.

I just don’t know whether I’m allowed to wear them if I’m not planning on leaving the house for at least five days. When I’m the guest of a husband or father of a child, I can pretty much get away with them. However, at the weekend when I’m out on my own, I feel like I’m doing myself an injury. Just this morning I got called a loser for wearing them.

I know there are articles about pantyhose becoming a chic trend – head-to-toe pantyhose, the “fresh man” look – but can I just wear them as if they’re gym wear and not look like an ageing priest who’s been stuck in the armpit of a flame for weeks? I feel like I have to commit extra restraint to them because I don’t want to look like Rihanna, circa 2016. I’m not even saying you should be afraid to wear them, just ask a friend. But I’m in fear of being judged. I don’t care that they may enhance the rest of my look. I just want to avoid looking like I came over all goth at the weekend and my skirt is two sizes too big. What am I supposed to do?
